Flowers, cocktails, & psychedelia

4 min readOct 26, 2024

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve cherished creating physical art and exploring different mediums and themes. This past year, after a short hiatus, I rediscovered my passion for it as a way to express myself and relieve stress. From the first pencil stroke to the final stroke of color, the entire process feels immensely therapeutic, and I find myself completely hooked throughout the journey.

Currently, my physical artwork revolves around three themes: the vibrant realm of abstract psychedelic art, cocktails — particularly martinis — and the eccentricities of various flowers. Each theme invites me to experiment with color, abstractions, and compositions that reflect my artistic passion.

Artistic Themes Overview

Abstract Psychedelic Art:

Creating abstract art is a transformative experience for me that helps me nurture mindfulness and self-expression. It allows me to explore the depths of creative freedom and celebrate the beauty of eccentricity.

Creating abstract art has taught me that imperfection can be beautiful. As a lifelong perfectionist, this was a tough lesson to learn. However, with an open mind and practicing letting go of the need for a perfect outcome has been a pleasantly change. It’s freeing to create without the pressure of perfection hanging over me.

Even after years of painting and drawing, I still find myself mesmerized by colors. They are a powerful medium to express my muddle up feelings that I struggle to put into words. To me, the ability to work with colors and craft something visually soothing is truly incomparable.

When creating abstract art, I enjoy piecing together individual colored components to create a final abstract as a whole, while keeping the sense of harmony. I cherish seeing all the parts come together to reveal a bigger picture is incredibly satisfying.

Inspirations:

Most of my abstract art is inspired by the immersive sounds and profound themes in Pink Floyd and Brian Eno’s ambient and psychedelic music. Tracks like ‘Echoes,’ ‘Julia Dream,’ ‘Cirrus Minor,’ and ‘Under Stars’ evoke emotions that I draw onto my canvas. The experimental sounds and dreamlike atmospheres of their music takes me on an emotional journey that guides my creativity and color strokes. Each artwork becomes a visual representation of how their music makes me feel.

Here are some of my recent works that aligns with the theme and explores the eccentricities of the music and perhaps the on going in my mind:

Flowers:

Apart from psychedelic art, I love creating thematic art, usually some vibrant floral pieces. I’m captivated by the diversity of shapes, colors, and textures flowers offer, and my approach ranges from abstract, energetically charged floral illustrations to impressionistic styles. In my free time, I often find myself crafting flowers of all sorts, bringing their beauty to life in different forms.

Here are a few examples of my variations of pink flowers:

Cocktails (Especially Martini):

Another theme I love to explore revolves around cocktails, particularly martinis. I’m captivated by their elegance and the interplay of light reflections, compositions, and vibrant colors. My approach varies from realistic representations that capture intricate details to bold, abstract interpretations. This serves as a quick getaway for relieving my anxiety, allowing me to delve into themes of alcohol while bringing their beauty to life in various forms.

In conclusion, I see my artistic journey as a colorful tapestry, sewed together by different themes that resonate with my surroundings and emotions. Whether I’m diving into abstract psychedelic art, creating vibrant floral pieces, or exploring the elegance of cocktails, I love playing with colors. Each piece I create reflects my passion for art and offers me a therapeutic escape that truly nurtures my soul. As I look ahead, I’m excited to continue this exploration, finding new ways to express myself and share my work with others.

Until then ciao!
